Stanford Outdoors serves the Stanford graduate and undergraduate community through a wide variety of programming, including subsidized gear rentals, classes, facilitated trips, speakers, film screenings, and SPOT trips. Our funding supports activities and gear relevant to all areas of outdoor recreation, including hiking, backpacking, climbing, surfing, kayaking, skiing, yoga, and stand-up paddleboarding. Our gear, classes, trips, and events are available to all students and we serve both undergraduate and graduate students in approximately equal volumes. Our funding request for vehicle rental allows us to rent vans that are used every weekend of the year to take groups off campus to some of the most spectacular outside places in California. Registration funding keeps the academic training classes for volunteer trip leaders free. Our funding serves the greater community by allowing us to continue to run programs while keeping gear rental prices and trip participation costs low.
